Definition of mid-market?
So whats the most common definition of mid-market deals? 10-100 mil? 100-500? 1B?
Or is "mid-market" better used to classify firms who don't play with the big boys?

WTF is the guy above talking about?
I'd say middle market is generally anything that isn't large cap, participating in large cap.... or as you put it, the big boys. So IBM buying that software co for 1.2B, large cap. Sprint-Nextel, large-cap. AOL-Time Warner, Hexion-Huntsman, Inbev-AB... large cap. Middle market are typically deals that aren't necessarily making headlines unless there's something really sexy going on. Its hard to anything below X amount is middle market, but if I had to give a number I'd probably say like 700 to 800M.
But really EVERYTHING thats not a large cap is considered middle market.... although it may be called 'lower middle market'.
alright marcus I agree, I am redacting my post...yes, everything that isnt large cap.
