Not sure about the "holy grail of PE" with the returns on their last funds, but I would probably still take it over a banking group.
That being said, BX's PE program is great and the analysts all do serious work, but if your sense is you'd just be doing bitch work at KKR, then maybe it makes sense to wait. Actually it's pretty hard to imagine you'd be building complex LBO models with no real banking experience (at least for the first few months to a year)
