Analysts get their bonuses in the summer. My bank was mid July. If you are hired off-cycle you will get a stub bonus, typically 10k as an analyst. They won't pro-rate the full 50-70k first year analyst bonus which sucks.

Depends on the shop. Some places pay on a year-end cycle, but most pay analyst bonuses in August.

do off cycles get screwed at most banks? If I start in January (at a BB), I would be pretty much working the hopes of a 10k stub?

Can't say for sure, but I would be floored if your bonus weren't a pro-rata share of your applicable full-year bonus number.

Thanks. In your opinion, does this hold true if I'm not "off cycle" at my particular shop? In other words, ALL the incoming analysts just started at the same time I did.

As has been said, analyst bonuses are generally paid in August, with the exception of a few shops that move you onto a year-end cycle. This is pretty much reserved for places that have shunned the two-year analyst program concept.

Are there any places that pay all mid-year? What about first year associates?

I know at one BB in particular all analysts are June and Associate and above are all on January. The year you go from Analyst -> Associate you will get a stub in January.

This to all my hatin' folks seeing me getting guac right now..
