I am not on this team but I see it as a wild-card. I have worked with some good people from it in the past. That said, the people who are moving from other teams to EGRC lately are bottom bucket folks for the most part. My coverage group is losing about 8 people to this team and 6 of them are god-awful and will not remotely be missed. The other 2 are ok but are still relatively new so hard to say.
Appreciate it. That makes sense. I am currently not top bucket, but am upper top ranked. To play devils advocate, if average juniors joining, wouldn’t that be a great opportunity to stand out?
Yes, but you wouldn't be able to deleagte well if they can't / won't do the work (at least the people coming from my group). Also, no matter what bank / team you work at, the best people get worked the hardest. Again, I have no idea how this group will operate (i.e. are people divided in to coverage/sector teams? do you focus on a particular geography in some cases?). Trying to find a set of competent / people you like owrking with could be a challenge or maybe it will be fine. Maybe connect with the EGRC staffer to learn more. I've met the guy, seems decent.
Sorry for delay. That all makes sense. All else equal, it seems like the job would be “better” from a Skillset perspective (I.e. making myself more marketable down the line) than a non M&A product group?
