Destined to deal?

I have been interviewing for IB summer analyst positions and not having success. Upon doing a mock interview with a trusted mentor, I was told it is likely due to me saying I feel that I am “destined to deal” in my “why investment banking” answer. I told him this is what my my father has told me since I was young.

I now feel conflicted. I do not want to repeat mistakes in future interviews but do not feel this is what is causing me to perform poorly.

What should I do?

Yeah, no need to say that. You don’t even know what it means to really deal. You’re a junior looking to gain experience. It’s a good YouTube video about what it takes to be a banker but shouldn’t be something you say.
