Did I Do A Career Mistake

Current Commercial Banking SA at BB. In the program looking to move to IB, as I originally was looking to recruit for IB. I wanted to see if it would be possible to lateral to IB the bank I’m at or move to a different group that’s more intensive but it’s not looking possible (HR really wants us to stay where we are at). I’m just really unsure if i’m wasting my 20s away doing CB when i can do an analyst stint at some LMM/MM IB firm and work my way up and exit to CB instead. I was initially hoping I could exit out of CB to VC but my hopes are getting extremely low, especially given how the talent pool is more oriented to IB experience. I initially took this because I’ll be interning at home at a reputable place but I had an interview at a LMM that was building out their office in my hometown and the thought of not doing the interview (declined due to burnout) is really bothering me.
