If they continue ignoring you even after you follow-up, it means they probably weren't 100% committed to bringing you on to begin with and you should probably move on.
But I'd atleast follow up 1-3x before giving up.
I agree. And you might’ve been deferred and they are waiting on a response from another candidate.
I don't think they have an official process though, it's more of a "fit" kind of thing to decide if they take on an intern I believe.
