Didn't apply for any 2019 SA internships until now because of family crisis; is it too late for an IBD internship?

I'm a junior at a non-target school. My father was diagnosed with cancer in May and passed away in September. Between my summer AM internship, dealing with the funeral/life insurance stuff/other things I haven't been able to apply for any internships. I'm just now catching my breath and resuming my finance career search, but its obviously very late into the recruiting cycle and most firms have filled their IBD internship positions.

I know some boutiques and MM still are recruiting, but is my IBD career basically over? Is it possible to have a MO internship this summer in something like Securities Services and get a FT IBD offer next year?

Thank you all in advance.

Keep going, cancer is a tough, horrible thing to watch or deal with. My respects to you and your family.

From my limited experience/having spoken to more experienced recruiters and bankers, I would cold call/network and be aggressive in your job search. People stress about getting BB IBD in their first year or two, but huge numbers of people work 2-3 years in MM then transition. Put things into perspective.
