Different Interview Than Application?

Hey guys,

I just got a first round for JPM in a division that I did not apply to. I am just curious whether this could have been a mistake and if it is alright to email HR and tell them. Or will that make me look ungrateful?

Someone please let me know because I got the interview for WM, but I am not nearly as interested in it and don't even have an application open for it.

Any feedback is great.

I just received this email from them a couple days ago after applying almost a month ago:

Thank you for your application to JPMorgan Chase.

We are excited you are considering an opportunity with us. Please know that your application is in the process of being screened in order to assess your professional skills and suitability for the position. Please note, we receive a large volume of applications and are dedicated to screening each one. As decisions are made we will notify you directly. Thank you for your patience.

Kind regards,

I think IB is complete, but if I were you I'd consider whether you'd be excited about the job in WM if you had an offer right now. If not, I would email them, but if it does sound kind of positive in your head you should just go for it. Which division did you apply to?

I applied to the Markets division, which doesn't have a whole lot in common with WM. I definitely don't want to be stuck in WM, if anything I would be interested in the offer to lateral to another division after the summer.
