Disappointed in y'all

Seriously guys??

Like okay, it's not surprising that some of my classmates who majored in subjects like anthropology have been posting free ads for Zohran on their stories for months.

But WSO??

I think it goes without saying that Mamdani's victory will be bad for investments, deals, and just the business environment in general. But even from a pure policy standpoint, his ideas are just bad.

Freezing the Rent
- This will just cause massive shortages of residential units, it's ECON101 guys

Creating Government Stores
- If this idea does materialize (which is quite questionable), there will be massive lines for these products. Some people's opportunity cost of time is $15 or $20; but if you're on WSO its likely much higher - so if you're spending half an hour in a line to save $30 on groceries you're losing money.

Department of Community Safety
- Because some random person in a t-shirt or hoodie will surely be able to deal with violent, deranged and armed criminals. They tried this in Chicago, and I advise you guys to read how "successful" it was.

Fast, Fare Free Buses
- The only free cheese is in a mousetrap. I wonder who's going to be paying for it; surely it won't be the white collar and managerial employees of Wall Street, right, right guys?

Cancelling the gifted & talented program, as well as the Stuyvesant test
- This is idiotic. At Stuyvesant, the poverty level of students is 40%+, at Bronx Science its 50%+. The SHSAT test gives low-income students the opportunity to get an elite education for free, and it's 100% merit-based, the G&T test is also 100% merit-based; there's no reason to restructure the results of the test to be based on "equity" or anything else.

Taxing Corporations and the 1%
- Hmmm, I wonder who he is talking about?? Surely, it can't be private equity managers & employees, and wall street bankers...

Healthcare
"Twelve percent of New York City residents are uninsured. To expand access to healthcare, Zohran will create a new corps of outreach workers to support New Yorkers navigating the healthcare system. Those workers will support patients in understanding the public resources available to them: how to find insurance, apply to programs, access financial assistance, and claim their health benefits."

Resident ≠ Citizen; so in my understanding this means health insurance for illegal migrants.

Trump-Proofing NYC
Raising taxes, driving out investment, continuing the failed "woke" policies which drove many voters to Trump in the first-place, and losing federal funding - that will show them! I'm not a fan of many of Trump's policies either, but if anything this might boost Trump.

Antisemitism & the State of Israel
Just hours after Mr. Mamdani was elected, the NYPost reported shocking and hateful graffiti: "A hateful vandal scrawled red swastikas on the front of a Brooklyn yeshiva overnight Wednesday, just hours after the election of anti-Israel Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani raised fears of a new “normalization of antisemitism.”" Unfortunately, it seems likely that antisemitism will rise under Mr. Mamdani.

In January, Mamdani refused to sign a resolution condeming the holocaust; he has also declined to condemn the phrase "globalize the intifada". This is completely inappropriate for the mayor of a city with over 1 million jews.

Overall, Mamdani's policy proposals are weak to put it mildly; and WSO users supporting him is not dissimilar to Chickens voting for Colonel Sanders

progressives love screaming about education and putting people down by calling them "uneducated" but turn around to do dumb shit like canceling gifted and talented programs and attacking standardized testing. Wtf?

I love that I have Jewish friends that would fully shit on this post. Please get laid
