Do IB/HF/PE normally cover MBA costs?
I assume the former (IB) since its directly related but how about PE/HF where its a bit more meritocratic. Does the answer change if in middle office position (risk, compliance, trade tax, controller, etc as opposed to tech/IT ops)?
buuuurn
I've heard that generalist associates at TPG compete for one such opportunity (having the firm pay for b-school) every year.
Basically no one does. The only people who will cover an MBA are consulting firms and potentially a corp dev job.
Why the fuck would a IB or a PE firm pay for something they don't need to. Banks will promote you internally without one, or hire in some stupid hungry kid from a b team state school who got into a decent b school without paying 100k for a degree.
I do know of a few VPs who had executive MBAs paid for in IB, but thats it.
Also, HFs don't like MBAs to begin with. An HF might cover the costs of your CFA, but they might not considering it doesn't really cost anything to you (in terms of a percentage of comp) by time they might want you to have it.
