Do interns need to communicate with each other?

Hi monkeys, My BB just released the team matching result for 2020 SA. Since this is my first time to do an internship in the US, I would really appreciate if someone could drop some advice on how interns communicate each other. Should we find ways to make a big chat group share some information or just mind ourselves’s business? I do know there is competition and probably collaboration simultaneously. I just don’t really know how the American culture works. Thanks!
