Do MDs understand if you want to leave after 1 year?
We have a pretty close-knit office. Handful of MDs. They are known to be supportive in helping analysts transition to the buyside in the analysts 2nd or 3rd year.
But I will be finishing up 1 year with the firm, and I do not want to be here anymore. I would like a job where I can read and use my brain.
Do you think that the MDs will be pissed off at me? Or do they understand that not everyone wants to be there 2 years. Or is there some unspoken contract or something
Most jobs in the world won't require you, or even give you the opportunity to, "read and use your brain". The jobs that do exist in that field are usually very academic in nature, and require qualifications that reflect that. The grass isn't greener on the other side, I'd suggest you just find time to do some reading in your own time. Or, if you want, go back to school.

That he's an idiot for taking my, obviously a joke, name at face value.
You’re a joke. And your advice is trash, boomer.
