Do you think anyone has ever offered a MD a %

Do you think anyone has ever offered a MD or VP a % of their income if they could help them find full time employment in IB?

There has to be have been some individuals who have been this desperate.

Or even just a straight up dollar amount?

Just curious.

1.) That % of your income would be way too small for an MD to reasonably be incentivized. 2.) Even if that % was a lot, it would not be worth the reputational risk that the MD would face by getting caught. 3.) If you pay a % of your income but one day decide not to, there is no way the MD could legally enforce you to the contract, since it was illegal to begin with.

I guess that's what I am getting at.

Is it illegal? It's just headhunting/paid networking, assuming he doesn't get you hired you on where he works.

That's why I changed I mentioned VP as well. Lets assume it's a hefty chunk (20-30K) wouldn't it sway a bit?

Never would consider but was discussing it with a group of friends last night.

"It is better to have a friendship based on business, than a business based on friendship." - Rockefeller. "Live fast, die hard. Leave a good looking body." - Navy SEAL

20-30K won't sway MD's and most VPs.

It also isn't headhunting. Headhunters are paid by the firm to find good candidates, so the incentive is for them to place people and to place good people (if they get a reputation for doing well, they will get more business, if not they'll be fired). If you pay the MD/VP you are paying for them to hire you, as opposed of them being paid to hire anyone (or a good person).
