Do you think networking is important in order to breaking into Investment Banking?

I just wanted to have your view on whether networking could really help to start a career in M&A. Assuming that the target does not extend to the US but mainly London. In my view, I thought networking would be more beneficial after getting a job in the industry.

Abso-fucking-lutely. I know that there are rumors that it doesn't work there ( or work as well as in the US), but I still think that it is more than worth your time to network. You just never know who might be able to get you a position.

While i agree its worth networking. In London its tough for it to bear fruit.

From my personal experience and other friends experience networking wasn't as effective as in the USA.

Especially at BBs where HR hamstring the process, the power of many people to make hiring decisions independent of HR is not what it was.

Man where's theaccountingmajor when you need him to call out QUESTIONS THAT HAVE BEEN ANSWERED A MILLION TIMES.

Jk. Also yes, super important. Get on that network grind asap.
