Does an MSF make sense if you have a Low GPA for IB?
Similarly, I plan on doing an mba later in my career to help transition from Canada to the USA… will an MSF hurt my chances for an MBA?

MSF programs can help overcome a weak undergrad GPA, but the timing of MSF programs and banking recruiting makes it a bit difficult to get a GPA to recruit with before recruiting happens. For example, if the MSF program starts in May and you get your first grades in August, you can't really start to recruit until those grades change.
Alternatively, if you have a good reason for having a weak GPA (personal issues, health issues, COVID and online school), you can start recruiting with a weak GPA and just having your enrollment in an MSF (and hopefully a good GMAT score?) on your resume. Make sure you choose an MSF program where students have placed in IB. Also, if you find STEM-designated MSF programs in the USA, you may be able to recruit for US jobs from your MSF.
MSF is a relatively new "thing," so there's not much data here. I can't imagine, however, having an MSF would make getting into a top MBA program more difficult.
Thanks so much! This is very helpful
