Does anyone else find WSO's new embedded ads distracting?

I think Patrick needs to make his money...so good for him. It's a bit distracting but no more so than that Lincoln ad that shows up at the top of the page every now and then and drops down if you mouse over it. All good though.

IMO, it gives the site a really cheap skeezy feel. I'd be turned off if I were a new user.

I was going to create a new thread on it last night, but its very annoying. Side and Top banners, I can live with because I can still read the content. Now it 's just painful.

I haven't seen any ads on the website, could someone link me to an example? Or maybe the ads are just getting filtered by the ad-block firefox plugin I use.

Agreed guys. I spoke with Patrick about it this morning - it's something one of his ad partners added without permission. I believe he's working on getting the in-line ads disabled as we speak.

Is there a similar ad-block for Chrome? I've been using this site for an embarrassingly long time (~5 years off and on) and this is the most annoying thing it's done in that time.

sorry guys, I have no idea why these links are showing up. I also agree they are very annoying and they will be removed once I figure out why they started showing up in the first place...

Although, some of the associations are fun. The best is "mouse" in my original post. "All About Bats and Wildlife Inc.! We specialize in the humane removal of wildlife!"

The randomness of the ads reminds me of the weekend I spent in Marrakesh. Dudes walking up to you offering the weirdest shit you never would have thought to ask for.

Let's just be grateful no one wrote key words like two girls one banker or Mexican donkey show (that last one does come up a lot at my BB).
