Does Group Matter in Networking?

If I want to work for an industrials m&a team, does it matter if I've networked with healthcare m&a guys, public finance guys, rx guys? Like does each team operate separately in terms of recruiting or is it structured so that if I get my resume pushed by healthcare or rx guys I will be able to choose the group I want to work for once start the summer analyst role  (given I get past the interviews)? Is this different for BBs, EBs, MMs?

for coverage only at goldman you spd for a specific group. otherwise you get a generalist offer w/ group placement later on. for product groups like pubfin/rx it may depend if rx recruiting is handled separately from m&a, or if pubfin is even grouped within ibd
