Does time still fly by?

As I get older it feels like time goes by faster - High School went by fast, University has been going by even faster.

For those that have been working in IBD for a number of years, does time still feel like it goes by fast given the hours?

This is probably mumbo jumbo but someone once told me that time feels like it goes by faster as you age because each incremental month/year makes up a smaller percentage of your entire life. When you're 10 years old, 1 year is 10% of your life. When you're 20, 1 year is 5%. When you're 30, it's ~3.3%, and so on. That + stagnating in life (no more trajecting/big changes from school → college → career; it's career → continue career for most people) manifests into time feeling thinner and thinner.

Try heroin. Shit will slow you down real quick, partner.

That is very interesting, thank you for the insight!

So you didn't feel like your analyst years were taking forever and ever working 80+ hours on PPT and Excel? Just asking because my internship flew by, but thats probably because it was my first time in IB and it was only for a summer.

Your brain tries to conserve energy and compartmentalize your life into 'chapters' so you can run on autopilot. The way to 'slow' time down is to do new things for the first time which causes your brain to perk up and be active. Easier said than done in banking but it can be as simple as ~15 minutes of a new hobby that sparks your brain to dig into a whole new subset of interest.
