Doorman Christmas Tips

Is anyone adjusting the amount given to their doorman this year? Last year when everything seemed a bit better, everyone in my group was giving around $100 per doorman. So, if you have 4 or 5 on a rotation, it was fine. But, given the economy and lower bonuses (if any), do you think expectations will change? What is everyone else planning to give? I live in the financial district.

I'm feeling a bit more generous this year, and I agree with the performance based bonus.

So I am borrowing my friends size 14 soccer cleat and I'm sticking my left unlubricated foot up Renaldo's ass.

Edmundo BravermanDoorman compensation should be performance based as well.

For example, if he regularly scored you primo coke, barred your ex-girlfriends from entering the building, and helped you bury that hooker's body then, yeah, a hundred bucks sounds right.

You mean you're supposed to give a Christmas tip? I always just give them a Christmas card with a picture of my family from vacation...
