Duke Sophomore interested in VC/GE

As the title says, I’m a rising sophomore at Duke interested in pursuing a career in venture capital or growth equity out of undergrad.

I know of the big VC/GE analyst programs that hire out of undergrad, but they seem to be incredibly competitive while only hiring Stanford + Harvard students (for the most part).

Are there any smaller VC/GE analyst programs that are open to taking students that don’t come from HYPS, or is there any other pipeline to these kinds of jobs out of undergrad? Thanks!

There are a lot of good accelerator programs like YC and PlugnPlay in the Bay that take interns and offer really good opportunities to build our brand and expand your network with investors and founders. There are also specialist small funds that deploy capital in industry niches (i.e. Cyber Mentor Fund) or school/alumni related funds (i.e. MIT's E14 Fund).

For what I can find for Duke, Towerview Ventures or Duke Capital Partners could be a good start for your journey into VC. For summer programs, I think anything that gets you to San Francisco/Silicon Valley is good.

Thanks, this is very helpful!! The accelerator programs are huge and I am familiar with the clubs.

Do you know of any VC/GE type places that are opening to hiring kids that don’t come from Harvard/Stanford out of undergrad by the way? Besides all of the huge places (e.g. Insight), I can’t seem to find any smaller places that are open to other schools.
