E3 Visa (Australia)

Hi all,

I was just curious to hear if any Australians studying in the US have used the E3 visa during recruiting to land a position at a firm that historically doesn't sponsor? Was wondering whether it was worthwhile to try and highlight this in applications/emails to HR?

Hey there!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, the E3 visa is indeed a unique advantage for Australians. It's pretty much guaranteed and US employers are relatively unaware of this visa. It's a good idea to highlight this in your applications or emails to HR.

However, it's important to note that even though the E3 visa process for Australians is much easier, it doesn't necessarily mean that firms that historically don't sponsor would change their stance. Some companies have strict policies and clearly state on their job applications that they are not looking for F1 candidates or that the position specifically requires permanent US citizenship.

So, while it's worth a shot to highlight your E3 visa eligibility, it's also crucial to be realistic about the responses from firms that typically don't sponsor.

Hope this helps and best of luck with your applications!
