Early interviews opportunities for FT IBD positions in Hong Kong

Hi guys,

Does anyone know about these events? Interning in HK at an international non-BB this coming summer, and heard about these informal sessions.

Would be nice if someone can shed some light. What kind of candidates do the BBs in HK invite to these interviews, what will the recruitment format be, and usually how many slots will be available?

I would love to work in HK when I graduate and any suggestion on breaking into these events would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for your help!

Not sure how helpful this is, but I can shed some light into what the process is like. In HK, its common for HR depts at various BB's to share resumes with each other. If you're summering at a BB in HK and do well, chances are you'll get an email from recruiters at other BB's in the area to attend an informal networking dinner. You schmooze a bit, wine and dine a bit and if you make an impression on anyone, you'll be brought in for an interview. I went to an MS dinner back when I summered in HK; they pull out all the stops -- really enjoyable evening.

from my experience at these things, typically you need to be at another bulge-bracket firm. It's very rare to see someone from, for example, RBS at one of these cross-networking events (not to knock RBS). Interns that are usually represented are GS, MS, JPM, UBS, DB, CS, Citi, BofAML, Nomura

Hey guys, thanks loads for the answers.

But say if I am interning at a non-BB like Maccap, RBS or BNP, there is no way to be invited to these events? Haha. Anyone tried crashing before?
