Qatalyst advised DDUP. Nobody will get league table credit for EMC, but word is they abused several banks for work during the process.
How/Why wouldn't any banks get credit for advising EMC?
Because none of them ever signed an engagement letter. EMC just worked them over for essentially free consulting advice. They've got a big M&A operation of their own, but companies do this all the time. If they can get a bank to do research or crunch numbers for them without paying, they will do it.
