EMEA Banker looking to move to the US
Hi everyone!
I am currently an associate at BofA in one of the EMEA offices looking to move to the US either in the west or somewhere where there is not a lot of activity given that I would like to start a family soon!
I am planning to move to the BofA Palo Alto office. Can someone please share some insights on the office, culture and exit opps. Also if there are other shops that are good please let me know.
Also can you please help with insights on where to stay and whether California is still worth it in 2022-2023.
I want to get into a vc or startup post the IB career. Also, if someone has experience in LA IB or even DC that would be helpful.
Big difference if you’re coming from Europe or Middle East / Asia office
Can you elaborate please?
American banks consider European (London, Germany) experience on par. Dubai or Middle East experience isn’t considered on par
same goes for Canada. experience in Canada is considered on par
Depends on bank tbh. I think only RBC, td and to some extent bmo
Okay I see what you mean. Thank you
I was forced to leave California early in my career because I wanted higher profile IB jobs (not married/no kids). If VC is the goal, I think California has a few cool things to offer.
California has value, still, although cost of living is higher now. Traffic, of course, is bad, although I am not sure if it is worse than before.
