employee referral
Was referred by an employee for a certain position at a bank. I declared on the application form that I was referred to this position by this employee.
The company says they start interviews in 2014. I have not heard back anything yet. I applied two weeks ago.
I emailed the person if he has had a chance to reefer me and he has not replied.
If someone does refer you for an interview does your application stat get changed to invited to interview instantly?
No it doesn't, but your chances of getting a 1st round interview increase (no guarantees though), assuming the person who referred you has enough pull. If interviews only start in 2014 I'd say hold your horses for the time being, especially since you already re-contacted the person regarding the referral.

Just wondering, what exactly counts as an Employee Referral?
I met a recruiter at an IBD event a few months ago who told me about a program that I should apply to and directed me to the HR head. I emailed the HR head and spoke with him over the phone about the program before applying to it.
Fast forward a few months and I'm now filling out paperwork prior to second round interviews. There's a section on the form about Employee Referrals - should I put down the recruiter who first introduced me to this program? Or the HR head I spoke to over the phone? Or both, or neither?
I feel like this wasn't really an employee referral, since my idea of that is when you already know someone in a company and THEN they refer you - however I'm probably wrong. I've never been through this process before, sorry if this is a dumb question.
For my employer, the refererring employee gets I think $1000 after 6 months if you stay on, but that's really all. So just put down whoever you feel like. Otherwise just leave it blank, it's really not important.
