A friend of mine recently got an offer in research with one of the BB banks hit hard by the subprime markets (so yeah, think Citi, ML). His offer (base+expected bonus) is lower than 100k. Does that sound normal? I'm not sure about how comp is like in equities research, but I thought it would be not too much lower than IBD at the junior level. Thanks.
