Equity Research, Investment Banking, or an Economist
Hey guys... so I am a college senior right now. I got interested in IB during the winter vacation of my senior year and I have been studying the industry and the technicals. Currently doing an internship with a small boutique (with great training materials). Got more experience on ER than IB (just got a project on a new LBO deal, still learning about deals, M&A.)
At the same time, I feel pretty interested in Economics (I'm a Math and Econ double, west coast top 40 non target.) And I was thinking the possibility of me getting a master's degree and get into some research groups, or large institutions like IMF/the World Bank. (or other smaller ones, I know those two are very hard)
Which direction do I go? I like ER very much. I also really like M&A, but since I'm an international student, it's not very possible for me to get an IBD job at a decent shop after a master's degree.
Thanks for the insights in advance.
