Equity research transition to banking
Looking for some advice. After 4 years in research, i am thinking of pivoting into banking.
Reason for my pivot is simple - i see more value being generated on the private side and less so on the public side. I feel like i have gotten to know the public markets well, and have done quite a few IPOs /initiations, building out models from scratch.
I wanted to know what skills i should work on when i am trying to transition (i know m&a bankers are likely to have better modeling skills than i do) but what stuff can i realistically work on? What things have you noticed lacking among people who typically move from research to banking?
