Europe Summer Internship?
Hey everyone, Im a rising international soph at an ivy looking into internships for my sophomore summer. Frankly, I don't think I'm quite ready to spend my summer in the us yet since a big part of my summer experience is enjoying it and I will not be 21 meaning I can't go into clubs/bars, etc. Also would enjoy a place closer to home so I can visit here and there (home isn't an option for internship since it's a small country).
Any advice on how to find investment banking internships in europe for next summer? I was looking into UK, however, I think some of them are for people that are graduating soon. (They have three years so applying second year is equivalent to junior year internship). But maybe there's something equivalent for people graduating in 2027?
Also am even more unfamiliar with other places. It could be easier and a lot less competitive to apply to BBs in other countries however Im not even sure what summer internships they offer and how the timelines work.
Please help me out!
In UK, we have spring weeks, these are for pen-penultimate students. They happen in Spring (duh). They are a week long or less and are basically funnels for the SA. Other than that, we just have SAs. No sophomore internships.
In Europe there are all sorts of random Co-op type internships depending on country but they're geared towards whatever school system is in that country and aren't necessarily neatly in the summer.
Other than that, you just have to network and pray but probably hard to get someone smaller in London to sponsor you given you have no visa. So I hope your home country is in EU and you speak some EU languages.
When do people apply for spring weeks?
As soon as possible. Idk when they open anymore. Maybe around now
