Ever used KPI?
Dear,
I'm a rising sophomore, and I got an internship offer, where I will be doing business strategic works with dealing with KPI and forecasting in a small healthcare business.
I was wondering if KPI is prevalent in IB industry. Or PE, HF and MC.
Also, I wanted to know if this internship will be actually haleful for me to leverage to another internship, hopefully in IB or MC.
Thanks!
i'd say no, KPIs are not relevant in IB, PE, HF, etc. They're relevant in sales oriented jobs because they give you an indicator of how the sales people should be performing, what you expect from them, etc.
Thanks for your insight!
Do you think it is a useful/marketable skillset? Sorry if this sounds foolish. I am pursuing IB or MC after graduation, and I want to leverage this internship to get another in IB or MC.
Sorry, but this is not true. KPIs are absolutely essential to tracking the performance of businesses and comparing to competitors... In PE you'll definitely care about it, and in IB you'll care about it to the extent that buyers care about it too.
KPIs tell you the fundamental story behind what's going on in the financial statements. It helps you catch issues earlier if something is going wrong in a portfolio company.
