Everyone's a comedian...or economist

Anyone happen to watch the Sunday night game between the Eagles and Bear? If so, some eye-rolling comments made by announcers Al Michaels and everyone's favorite John Madden.

Did you need a reminder of how deeply Wall Street’s woes have pervaded American culture? Here’s the latest, hours after Congressional leaders announced that they have agreed on a compromise plan to bail out big banks.

During the fourth quarter of the Sunday night National Football league game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Chicago Bears, the referee said that the scoreboard was frozen. NBC commentator Al Michaels responded thusly: “Scoreboard’s much like the credit markets. So they’ll try to unfreeze it.”

Mr. Michaels added, speaking of an Eagles linebacker: “What did Stewart Bradley tell us? He was thinking about going to the investment banking business when he is done. I said that’s an obsolete business.”

Later on once the clock was fixed:

Michaels: They passed the bill so now the clocks are unfrozen.

Madden: Bailout, they bailed the clocks out.
