alt i r inserts a new row
hit the down arrow twice then hit F4, rinse and repeat until done.
say there are 1000 rows, i want to insert a blank row after each of the 1000 rows. alt i r doesn't insert after every row.
insert a row then move down 2 cells (relative reference). Then create the loop to repeat it 1000 times.
no need for macros for such an easy task
insert a new column put in numbers multiples of 2 with mod 2 value = 0 (0,2,4,6 etc.) in that new column in each row (many ways to do it, from dragging the corner of the cells to use a formula and then copy value)
put in numbers multiple of 2 with mod 2 value = 1 (1,3,5,7) in the empty rows below your last row with data, in similar manner
use a stupid sort on that column
delete the extra column
tada...
Now that is some creativity!
yup, i did 0.5 increment. thank you for your help!
would have never occurred to me. i like the outside-the-box thinking!
this sounds like an interview question...hmmmm
is that sometimes you get hit with unintended consequences.
I agree that the solution proposed by jajaja is an elegant one but only works if the rest of the dataset is hard-coded or absolute referenced for cells. If it isn't then the links will be messed up.
