Execution focused M&A group at a MM?
Accepted an offer at a run of the mill MM bank, I got put in the M&A group which is pretty sweet since I'll primarily be working on live deals, but I learned from some bankers in the group that their job is focused on "execution". They don't do very much modeling, no pitching, they just do a lot in making sure the deal actually happens which involves a lot of talking with senior mgmt for the companies they're advising. This leaves me with some questions:
What are they even doing on a deal, I thought ib was all about grinding on excel until 2am?
What does this mean for my exit opps either to better banks or to MM PE? No clue if I'm even gonna like any of this when I start working but I'm chasing the bag one way or another
