Expectations too high?

Am I completely delusional or should it be expected if you’re entering as an intern or A1 that you know your way around excel and ppt (I.e should have a QAT up your sleeve and use excel without a mouse)?

Maybe my expectations are too high but I would have thought if you know you’re going to use something 15 hours a day you’d want to hit the ground running.
