I'd say for a guy just out of an undergraduate program, yes. I can't recall any other salary paying profession giving away that amount of money for a 22 year old. As a lawyer you won't make as much and as a doctor you will be still studying. After some years it varies a lot.

Engineers often have slightly higher starting salaries, but their ceiling is a lot lower.

 

Law is a crap shoot, if you have some connections, then go with it. Docs have a great gig, yes it took a lot of school but in the long run it is the SAFE play (unless you are a primary). Finance is for gamblers and job security is tough to come by.
