f500 internship?
Could have a f500 cost accounting internship set up for the fall, and wanted to know if this was worth my time? Currently at a complete non target state school with a bb pwm already under my belt. Ive had no luck with local boutiques in any field (ib/pe/vc) With nothing else out there I know I should probably take what i can get, but wanted to know if i should pass on this and keep trying to get into some sort of boutique in the area
What year are you and what's your location...? It really depends on your end goal job-wise. A cost accounting internship isn't really going to help you 'break in' to banking whether that be at a boutique or bulge bracket. However, an internship at a F500 during the fall could open 'other' opportunities such as a F500 Rotational Program and/or a corporate development group.
Best advice I can give is "any experience is better than having no experience." If you're really set on working in IB continue to be persistent and keep networking!
Best of luck!
just a little background. Im a finance major in a small city in the southeast looking to eventually get into s/t or corp fin. Im an extended junior as I just took on a minor (graduating 2014 not sure what term yet) and will be looking to get into an msf program post grad. Would this opportunity help my chances for an msf, if it is the only thing i have currently? I will still try to get into some sort of finance internship for spring/next summer
I did one of these internships. I felt unchallenged, but it is better than nothing for sure
Also a 2014 future grad and currently at a f500 doing accounting grunt work. It really opened me up to the whole corporate style and I'm getting good experience in accounting. If you cant do a ib/pe/vc internship this will be your next best option (but not very good for a future in banking), unless you get an internship at a big 4
