Family office with strategic angle

How hard is it to jump from a family office (affiliated with some family owned companies) to a traditional growth PE?

The family office investment style is more strategic angle focused, does not do much modelling. Investment process also less structured.

Is it not a good idea to join a family office where investments are usually made based on strategic angles / synergies vs a traditional growth PE with pure financial investor angle / analysis / more intensive modelling?

Just worried if no exits after joining a family office
