Fast food on resume for investment banking? is it stupid? [LONDON]
I have 3 years experience at McDonalds as a crew-trainer & almost 1 year of experience at pizza hut as a manager from when i was in school -> university.
I just wrapped up year 1 out of 3 for university (non-target) with a 4.0 (1st Class) as context.
Granted I have no finance experience apart from extra curriculars & my education/finance clubs i was wondering whether i should include this, some posts on this forum seem to dislike the idea.
If i should include it, should i put it above or below my extracurriculars (finance clubs & such)?
This is relevant for SA 2026/Spring weeks and such.
Thank you in advance.
Stupid
Why so is it just because of the job role?
Bankers are cucks. DM me. Happy to help you
Current SA, worked in similar role. It was basically what got me the job :)
It's better than blank space. It's just a job, doesn't really matter what it is. I had old part time jobs on my CV for a while.
Put the fries in the bag
Why would it be stupid? It's a legit role where you interact with customers under pressure in an uncomfortable environment.
Definitely worth including
You would be surprised which direction the interview will take. Some people, especially more senior people I have noticed, love to see a varied background. It shows that you don't mind getting stuck into jobs others would turn their noses at. I included odd jobs in mine and it led to humorous stories/anecdotes which builds rapport
I have included it but put it under my extra-curriculars.
Put it in the work experience section, it's not an extracurricular. Ignore people calling it stupid also - definitely include it
I had a similar role on my CV a while back and one of the MD's in my super day actually brought it up and it turned out he worked there back in university as well so I would 100% include it. A lot of the senior people will notice it and likely acknowledge it in interviews.
Most people who don't come from nepo backgrounds have all had to do their time in a similar role at some point and it's good to find some common ground. Also shows you know how to work in an environment where you might get a lot of sh*t which could be useful in IB lol.
