FICC Sales to IB Lateral - Did Employer Make You Work Two Weeks After Giving Notice?

I've been working as an analyst in FICC sales at a BB in the Midwest since July of last year & recently accepted a lateral position in IB at another BB. I plan on starting my new position in the 1st week of June & plan to resign/notify my current employer this Friday (giving the customary 2 week notification).

I know for those lateraling within IB to another BB in NYC, its normal to offer 2 weeks but they let you out of your job the same day. Does anyone know if the same applies when lateraling out of a BB S&T position to a BB IB position? My team is relatively small (regional office) & I would prefer to avoid the general awkwardness of having to work those last 2 weeks, especially considering I've only worked in this role for 10 months. Anyone have prior experience with this in a regional city and how you're boss handled it?

I would start clearing your desk of all personal things throughout the week before you give your notice. There's a chance that your boss will just tell you to be gone by the end of the day, in which case you'd already have cleared your desk. Otherwise you'd have to show up for the last 2 weeks. From my experience, even if they do make you work the 2 weeks, you don't really do much, just kinda show up for a few hours and transition some of your work. Side note, What was the timeline like from interviews to offer? In a similar position as a lateral so I'm curious.
