Figma acquired by Adobe for $22B -- thoughts?
Looks like Qatalyst advised Figma while Allen & Co advised Adobe. Crazy big transaction advised by boutique shops. Apparantly price paid was >50X Figma's revenue. Thoughts? Qatalyst and Allen & Co must've made a killing in fees.
50x ARR is what I read. Read about Quattrone / Boutros's playbook and hardo tactics, but goddamn. Real ballers.
where can i read about that haha
Just google around for articles about George Boutros. There was one where Meg Whitman called him evil and refused to negotiate with them.
insane. True ballers on the banking side. I don't know how the board at Figma approved this.
What do you mean? That's a crazy multiple in this environment/public comps. The Figma board is full of VCs who just got a massive exit (2x from when they last raised last year) in a shitty capital market. I'm sure this mark helps a lot of people go fundraise for beginning of next cycle and mitigates any down rounds we might see/have seen.
I don't think this is a turn in the broader market by any means. Adobe paid up because (a) from a product perspective, it's pretty transformative IMO and opens up new doors for them, and (b) they're also paying for 80-100% or whatever ridiculous growth Figma has down.
Figma? More like Adobe Ligma
insane multiple - Adobe stock getting slapped and heat on the board & corp dev team bout to turn up (toasty)
I think there’s a serious chance regulators block this.
Idk if the regulator is going to split enough hairs to determine that a $130bn company buying a company with $400mm in revenues (which was 8 figures in rev 2 years ago) is going to alter the market structure of an industry.
