Finance degree from target?

Hello! I've noticed that most target universities in UK and USA don't provide degrees in finance, is there a particular reason why they don't do so? Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard are some of the target schools that don't teach Finance...instead, most targets teach Economics. I know Economics and Finance have some topics that overlap, but I personally feel Finance is more useful for IB and Private Equity. What are your opinions? Is a degree in Economics worth it if you know you want to do IB or PE?
