Sweet topic. My question: how can a US citizen obtain a finance gig in Brazil? Thanks for answering questions.

my god this topic has been beat to death. learn portuguese, no portuguese=no job. and not half-ass portuguese you need to have near fluency.

My drinkin' problem left today, she packed up all her bags and walked away.

As mentioned above you MUST speak fluent Portuguese to work there. I lived in a smaller city in Brazil for 5 months (Florianopolis aka heaven) and it seems that the finance related jobs in that area were wealth management along with some tech companies. All the rich people down there seemed to be real estate developers/investors.

Hello

I am from Brazil as well, but do not study in a target university. What would be your advise to overcome this? Do you think getting a Msc Finance in Europe or Usa would help? Thanks

who said Rio has no finance jobs???? Lots of deal-making occurs there...BTG PACTUAL is headquartered there and many money-managers also have offices there...I know weath management and PE are strong there

Actually Pactual's IBD team is based in São Paulo. Not sure if they have a team in Rio. I know some ER analysts sit there as well as MO/BO guys. I am also from Brazil and I am an Industrial Engineer with a high chance of having studied in the same University as you did.

nice to see more brazilians chasing the dream...I know there is an IBD department in Rio at Pactual, but it is not as large as the one in SP

to any brazilians in this forum...Why is it that when I say I work in trading in Sao Paulo people assume i am a ''capitalist pig''???? It angers me a lot when even people who are close to me assume I am just a greedy motherfucker, even though I earn less than most millionaires here in Sao Paulo who made their fortunes with political contacts...there seems to be bigger hate towards finace in brazil than in other places

I don't get much of that... maybe it's because 90% of my friends are also in finance. But hatred towards people in finance has grown a lot around the globe, not just in the US...

Fellow Brazilians, I need your assistance. I want to learn a thing or two about Brazil's economic growth and development, and am currently in search of books (in english). Please recommend me a few books discussing Brazil's economy, politics, market, growth, etc. Thanks in advance!
