Follow up for interview.

I'm currently a temp analyst who worked at the client’s side once. Recently I came across an opening for a position so I reached out to my former boss (client side) and asked if he knew anyone at the respective bank, I saw the opening for and sure enough he did. He reached out the MD on my behalf at the bank who asked me to forward my resume directly to the Associate who is running the recruiting efforts. I emailed the Associate with my resume and the Associate responded back saying They're reviewing resumes right now and will get back to me shortly. That was over a week and half ago. Should I reach out to the Associate and see what’s going on? Or should I just wait it out?

I would follow up. Did he not give you any kind of specific time frame to expect to hear something within? I'm assuming he left it at "shortly".

When a plumber from Hoboken tells you he has a good feeling about a reverse iron condor spread on the Japanese Yen, you really have no choice. If you don’t do it to him, somebody else surely will. -Eddie B.

Absolutely reach out! You need to be proactive and pursue your dream job, it's not gonna come by itself. Just write a friendly email asking for an update on the progress of your application or something. Try hard to get that interview.

No he didn't give me a time frame, just said "shortly". I guess I should follow up but I don't want to be pestering. I do have the persons direct number but I think that would be a little informal. Any other people have experience with this?

Never hurts to call. Takes less time for the Associate to talk to you for 2 min than to write you an email. Also, shows a bit more initiative.

"For I am a sinner in the hands of an angry God. Bloody Mary full of vodka, blessed are you among cocktails. Pray for me now and at the hour of my death, which I hope is soon. Amen."
