For the weekends...

How does it generally work in banking - if no one says anything to you when you leave on Friday about weekend work (and you don't get any urgent e-mails on your Blackberry), are you still supposed to come in on Saturday/sunday or are you good to go?

Also, let's say someone sends you an assignment on Friday afternoon that they don't need until the next week (not sure if it happens this way in banking), can you just put it off until Monday, or are you supposed to work on it over the weekend and send ASAP?

Just trying to get an idea of banking culture/expectations.

Unwritten rule in banking, is that if you don't have to come in on the weekend, you don't come in, and most groups will respect that; however, you have to think about a couple of things;

1) Your staffer for your group will generally give out assignments based on how busy each analyst is "Well, these 4 were in over the weekend, this one didn't come in, I'll assign him" So, although there's no reason to come in just for face time, it might help you get staffed less

2) Sometimes, this can backfire and if a staffer sees you in on the weekend, they might just assign you some work while you're there because they don't want to call in another analyst over the weekend if you are already there.

So....be careful haha
