Freshman Internship Help

Hey guys, I'm new here and trying to get started off.

I'm currently a freshman at a non-target, but looking to get ahead this summer with an internship.

I've read that a lot of you suggest a PWM Internship. I know there are a lot of Merill Lynch PWM Branches in my area - but some seem to think that these wouldn't give me as much experience. If I choose to try and pursue a PWM Internship, what bank would be the most optimal to land at this summer?

Also, what internships could I try to pursue besides PWM? Are there any other places that would be better in terms of experience and on my resume?
Would it be worth trying to get an internship at a regional investment bank? And if so, what are regional IBs and where can I find them in my area?

Basically, just trying to get an understanding of the best --> worst places I could try to intern this summer, the prospects of getting them, and how to find go about getting them? Where should I prioritize my efforts and how?

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the help and I'm excited to join this community and learn from you all.

Everything you mentioned is fine but, maybe, also look into commercial banking.

Don't stress over it too much. Just make sure you do something constructive over the summer.

The important thing is never to let oneself be guided by the opinion of one's contemporaries; to continue steadfastly on one's way without letting oneself be either defeated by failure or diverted by applause.

My search fund internship changed the game for me. Got me multiple superdays, was having no luck before the internship. Find a search fund.
