From BB internship in Russia to Wall Street?

Dear American monkeys,

Today I finished my off-cycle internship in BAML, Moscow office. I did not get FT offer and finally have plenty of free time to post my first topic on WSO.

These 3 months of internship were intense, 70 hours a week, a couple of all-nighters, no time for anything else but work. That was my first exposure to investment banking and what I understood is IB is all about details and dedication/ full commitment. Also making sure senior people see it.

However, I have uneasy feeling that my internship reality is slightly different from what you guys are discussing on this forum. I did not build a single model, worked mostly on ECM projects (IPOs of Russian companies are on the up and up) and pitches, updated comps and did a lot of industry research.

Here go my questions. Is NYC the best place to start and build a valuable set of technical skills? Also what can be my way to Wall Street?

I appreciate your comments very much.
