Gamechanger Tips for IB Analysts

What are tips / tools / shortcuts / templates that changed your life as a 1st year?

I'm not talking tips like "overcommunicate with your deal team." I'm talking hyper-niche shortcuts, underground Factset (or equivalent) tools, excel databases for strips, ways to quickly pull together company profiles, etc.

Brainstorming some personal / internal admin projects with the goal of making life easier for analysts and accelerating annoying tasks. Any wisdom would be appreciated

There are companies / software packages that make easier shortcuts for excel. I don’t remember what exactly they were in my day but I figure the major training organizations like TTS or Knopman may be a good source of info for that hopefully. Good luck

I thought creating a folder for each deal was helpful in organizing workstreams and keeping up with the deals to make sure I was on top of it when starting. Eventually the emails/deals became so much that the time spent on separate folders / organizing it like that wasn’t worth it

PowerPoint tips:

Flaticon and Noun Project - these websites give you access to thousands of icons you can’t normally find

Pinetools - allows you to change the color of the icons from the above mentioned websites to whatever color you need so they match your PowerPoint. Make sure to set sharpness to 100 and lookup the Hex # for the color

Presentationgo - Website with many templates you can use. For example, just search “arrows” and it will show you options you can use for sides

Slidego and free-PowerPoint-templates-design.com - Similar to above mentioned website.
