Gap Year During Uni - IB Advice

Hi Guys,

I'm a rising junior at an Ivy League and I recently transitioned from pre-med to investment banking. I'm majoring in Neuroscience with a 3.8 GPA and I landed an internship at a boutique near my school this summer.

However, I am strongly considering taking a gap year to stay home and work at a boutique in LA during the school year. I feel as though this would give me time to fully familiarize myself with IB lingo and financial modeling before interviewing for summer 2021 positions with EBs and BBs.

Additionally, I would intern at a healthcare firm in Germany in summer 2020, allowing me to maintain my foreign language of choice and display my interest in the healthcare industry on my resume.

How do you think EBs and BBs would perceive this plan?

Thanks
