Getting Networking Contacts From Pitchbooks
I'm working as a public finance summer intern at a state government after my junior year. The position doesn't lead into a full-time job, and I wouldn't be interested in continuing on anyway; I'd rather get into financing or consulting.
We get a lot of pitchbooks and they all of course list MDs, VPs, and associates with e-mail addresses and telephone numbers.
Would it be a legit move to use this info to get in contact with the bankers and explain that I worked on this public finance project but am interested in participating in recruiting for their firm this fall?
On one hand, it seems like a gold mine of contact info and provides a decent reason to reach out, but I don't want it to be perceived as an abuse of the information or a breach of the confidentiality. I'm sure their info may be online elsewhere, but seems like a gray area.
